West Pinnacles and Big Sur - 3/13/10

I went to the West Pinnacles on Saturday, 3/13/10, for a day hike and for some wildflower viewing. It was a beautiful, sunny day, perfect for a nice walk in the woods. It looked like the bloom was just beginning at the Pinnacles. I did find some nice patches of Padre's Shooting Stars along the trails though. I also spotted Johnny Jump Ups, Milkmaids, Miner's Lettuce, a few Fiesta Flowers, Indian Paintbrush, and some Wild Cucumber. I suppose in a few weeks I will return to check it out again (and the East side of the Pinnacles too).

I drove up to Big Sur afterward, just for the heck of it. I always love to stop at Point Lobos State Reserve and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, and the drive is always beautiful. Not much in the way of wildflowers at either park (and even if there were, it was really windy! Probably too windy for any decent shots - lol).

I posted pics below. Enjoy!
