Camping Trip - 7/23/12 - 7/28/12

Well, vacation time is nearly over. I had a great time camping, but there were a few hiccups in my trip. At the first campground, I had made a reservation, and when I got there, the campsite I had reserved was too small. There was no room to set up a tent, and the parking space was too small for an RV to fit, so I am not sure just who that campsite was made for. Anyway, I was able to move to another spot. It was a pain in the ass, but it worked out ok (if you're camping out in Rock Creek's East Fork campground, avoid spot 51! lol). The first nite was nice and quiet, but the next nite, someone brought a baby camping and that darned baby was crying all nite, and in the morning, more crying (who brings a baby camping anyway?? Don't do that! If the altitude makes my head hurt, you can only imagine what that poor baby feels like) .

Reds Meadow in Devil's Postpile National Monument, was a nice campground too. A bit on the dusty side, but nice and shady. The first nite was chilly, but quiet. The 2nd nite was warmer, but there was a group of 20-something-year-old dudes behind me who were drinking and being loud and obnoxious until well past midnite. I was getting kinda mad, since quiet time at camp is 10:00 pm, and I was going to get up early to go to Yosemite. And yelling cuss words and howling like coyotes is just not cool. Other campers were telling them to shut up, but they kept at it. Here's a tip: If you're camping out, don't be like those jerkwads!

On Friday, I had a reservation at Big Meadow Campground on Ebbetts Pass, but when I got there, the camp host told me they had to move me to another spot. So, I went to the spot they told me to go to, and I set up my tent. I left to find some dinner, and when I came back, someone else was set up there, and they had moved my tent over (WTF?!?!) Well, the campground host told me he had made a mistake and apologized over and over. He found me another spot, and even got some guys to move my tent for me. It was frustrating, but at least I had a place to sleep. Ugh. I doubt I will be camping there again....or at least not making any reservations there in the near future. At least it was quieter!

Overall, I did have a good time, even with the sunburn and mosquito bites and asshole campers and crying babies. Got to go on a lot of hikes and got a lot of pictures in the process. Can't wait to go again ;)
