Yosemite National Park - Rock Climbers on El Capitan - 10/19/12
Far, far up on El Capitan, was this group of rock climbers. Can you spot them? It was hard to see them without binoculars.
Yosemite National Park - El Capitan - 10/19/12
This is another famous landmark in Yosemite National Park: El Capitan - a favorite among rock climbers.
Yosemite National Park - Half Dome - 10/19/12
Half Dome - one of the most famous landmarks in Yosemite National Park.
Yosemite National Park - Mule Deer - 10/19/12
A Mule Deer fawn basks in the sunlight for a moment before resuming feeding. The park deer have little fear of people. In fact, I spotted one buck walking alongside a woman pushing her baby in a stroller.
Yosemite National Park - Mule Deer - 10/19/12
I spotted over 2 dozen Mule Deer in Yosemite Valley when I visited the other day. Lots of bucks and does and a few fawns too. You can look, but please don't attempt to touch. Keep wildlife wild!
Yosemite National Park - Mule Deer - 10/19/12
A couple of Mule Deer fawns seem to see something interesting over yonder.
Yosemite National Park - Mule Deer - 10/19/12
Mule Deer seem to be everywhere in Yosemite Valley this time of year.
Mono Lake Park - Hairy Woodpecker - 10/19/12
The Hairy Woodpecker looks much like the Downey Woodpecker, except that the Hairy Woodpecker has far fewer white spots on its wings and has a larger bill.
Mono Lake - Eared Grebe - 10/19/12
Eared Grebes flock to Mono Lake in great numbers in the fall. A few have already shown up to the lake.
Mono Lake - Ruddy Duck - 10/19/12
A few birds were spotted at Mono Lake on this day, including this Ruddy Duck.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
The June Lake Loop is a 15 mile drive consisting of 4 lakes: June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake and Grant Lake. It is located between the towns of Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vining, CA.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
This, without a doubt, is one of my favorite places to visit in the fall. It is just gorgeous.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
The green and yellow trees make a nice contrast against the deep blue water in the fall.
June Lake - Mountain Chickadee - 10/19/12
Mountain Chickadee
parus gambeli
They typically make their homes in high altitude coniferous forests.
June Lake - Mountain Chickadee - 10/19/12
This little Mountain Chickadee was busy singing in a tree at one of my favorite viewpoints at June Lake.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Tranquil scenery in the morning at Silver Lake. It was blissfully quiet and uncrowded this morning.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Colorful trees stand out against the blue sky at Silver Lake.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Early morning around Silver Lake is probably not the best time to photograph this particular spot, because the sun is on the wrong side. But since I was leaving for home that day, I didn't have time to spend to wait around for the sun to go on the "right" side - lol. It was far prettier in person.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
In the fall, a more appropriate name for Silver Lake, would be Gold Lake, don't you think?
June Lake Loop - Grant Lake - 10/19/12
The trees around Grant Lake are a stunning shade of orange. It was practically the only area I came across with trees this color.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
This was the scene at Convict Lake when I arrived around 9:00 am. As you can see, to the left, much of the lake is still covered in shade this early in the morning.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
One of the most senic areas (in my opinion) in the Eastern Sierras, is Convict Lake.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
A tip for photographing this area in the fall: don't get here too early... I got here initially around 9:00, but the majority of the lake was still in the shade. 11:30 was a much better time as the sun had risen high enough to fill the area in sunlight.
Crowley Lake - 10/18/12
Driving Crowley Lake Road north from Tom's Place, you drop down to this gorgeous scene in Crowley Lake, CA.
