I went up to Gorman and Antelope Valley on Sunday. The Gorman hills were full of color...purple and gold mostly. Lots and lots of Globe Gilia on one hillside, along with Lupine, California Poppies, Fremont Pincushion and Coreopsis. Another hillside was mostly Phacelia and Lupine. But oh was it cold and super windy! Pretty nonetheless.
Antelope valley looked like it had been painted gold in many places. The Poppies were everywhere! Not just in the preserve, but along the roadsides, too. There were seeminlgly endless fields of Poppies here and there. It was crowded though, and very windy. At times, I had a hard time even opening the car door! lol.
After Antelope Valley, I took a little drive down to the Kern County Wildlife Refuge off of Highway 46 (going toward Wasco). Lots of birds and a few flowers. I like the peacefulness of this place. It was a nice ending to the trip.
I posted pictures below. Click on any for a larger view. Enjoy!
