I went to Yosemite on April 6, 2009, just for a day trip. I went up Hwy 140 thru Mariposa and El Portal this time, a route I had never taken before (I always go up the 41 or the 120, when it is open). It was a beautiful day and an equally beautiful drive! The hills thru the canyon were covered in poppies and other wildflowers, and the Redbud trees were blooming as well, adding splashes of magenta in the canyon. The valley was typically busy, even more so since it was Spring Break (I had totally forgotten about spring break), and there was road construction going on, but I still had a pleasant visit. I have booked my campground in Tuolumne Meadows in July. I can't wait to go!
