Mono Lake - Eared Grebe - 10/19/12
Eared Grebes flock to Mono Lake in great numbers in the fall. A few have already shown up to the lake.
Mono Lake - Ruddy Duck - 10/19/12
A few birds were spotted at Mono Lake on this day, including this Ruddy Duck.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
The June Lake Loop is a 15 mile drive consisting of 4 lakes: June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake and Grant Lake. It is located between the towns of Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vining, CA.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
This, without a doubt, is one of my favorite places to visit in the fall. It is just gorgeous.
June Lake Loop - June Lake - 10/19/12
The green and yellow trees make a nice contrast against the deep blue water in the fall.
June Lake - Mountain Chickadee - 10/19/12
Mountain Chickadee
parus gambeli
They typically make their homes in high altitude coniferous forests.
June Lake - Mountain Chickadee - 10/19/12
This little Mountain Chickadee was busy singing in a tree at one of my favorite viewpoints at June Lake.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Tranquil scenery in the morning at Silver Lake. It was blissfully quiet and uncrowded this morning.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Colorful trees stand out against the blue sky at Silver Lake.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
Early morning around Silver Lake is probably not the best time to photograph this particular spot, because the sun is on the wrong side. But since I was leaving for home that day, I didn't have time to spend to wait around for the sun to go on the "right" side - lol. It was far prettier in person.
June Lake Loop - Silver Lake - 10/19/12
In the fall, a more appropriate name for Silver Lake, would be Gold Lake, don't you think?
June Lake Loop - Grant Lake - 10/19/12
The trees around Grant Lake are a stunning shade of orange. It was practically the only area I came across with trees this color.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
This was the scene at Convict Lake when I arrived around 9:00 am. As you can see, to the left, much of the lake is still covered in shade this early in the morning.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
One of the most senic areas (in my opinion) in the Eastern Sierras, is Convict Lake.
Convict Lake - 10/19/12
A tip for photographing this area in the fall: don't get here too early... I got here initially around 9:00, but the majority of the lake was still in the shade. 11:30 was a much better time as the sun had risen high enough to fill the area in sunlight.
Crowley Lake - 10/18/12
Driving Crowley Lake Road north from Tom's Place, you drop down to this gorgeous scene in Crowley Lake, CA.
Fall in the Eastern Sierras - 10/19/12
Just north of Bishop, CA... fall has come to the Eastern Sierras.
Rock Creek Canyon - 10/18/12
The golden Aspen trees stand out against the blue sky in Rock Creek Canyon.
Rock Creek Canyon - 10/18/12
The road leading into Big Meadow Campground may be closed to vehicles, but not to those on foot. It was a beautiful view.
Alabama Hills - Mobius Arch - 10/18/12
Here is a link that will tell you how to find this arch:

There are many more arches in the Alabama Hills area. This link will give you more information on them and how to find them:

Alabama Hills - Mobius Arch - 10/18/12
I love the Alabama Hills. I got there early, so the lighting was perfect.
Alabama Hills - Lathe Arch - 10/18/12
I can never resist stopping here on the way to the eastern Sierras - but can you blame me? lol

Crowley Lake - 10/18/12
Today's quest for fall colors was prettty successful. Rock Creek Canyon was colorful in the lower elevations below East Fork Campground (Rock Creek Resort was closed, so no pie - darn). The town of Crowley Lake (pictured above) was full of color. The sun was on the wrong side to get good pictures tho. Gonna give it another shot tomorrow. Same with June Lake... Full of color all along the loop drive. I just got there too late in the day for good sunlight conditions. Lundy Lake was colorful too. Looks like I picked a good time too come. Gonna check out Convict Lake, June Lake Loop, Lundy Lake and Mono Lake tomorrow, and head home visa Yosemite. Got a lot of work to do tomorrow ;)

Placerita Canyon State Park - 10/7/12
Dark Eyed Junco. It was getting dark about this time, which was too bad, cuz about 5 minutes after I took this pic, a fox trotted by. Too bad it was too dark and the fox was too far away to get a picture of it. It was still cool to see :)
Placerita Canyon State Park - 10/7/12
These Acorn Woodpeckers stopped for a drink at the water fountain.
Bakersfield Sunset - 9/2012
I didn't have to travel far to get a good sunset picture. This one was taken in town at River Walk Park. The one good thing about smog is that it makes for good sunsets - lol
